On Saturday 3rd May, Geddington played host to “The Queen Eleanor Cycle Ride” from St Martin-in-the-Fields Church, Trafalgar Square.

The sponsored cycle ride was helping to raise funds for their world famous work helping London’s homeless. Naturally the GVFB offered its assistance in its own way.

The “Queen Eleanor” was dispatched to meet up with the 42 cyclist at Grafton Underwood. On board was a special guest, Cllr Christopher Lamb the mayor of Kettering, who welcomed them to the Borough. The “Queen Eleanor” then led the procession back to Geddington where they were to rest for the night.

With the assistance of the PCC and 1st Geddington Scout Group the St Martin-in the-fields team were treated to a specially prepared 3 course meal in the village hall.

The party then retired to The Star Inn for a few jars of refreshment. They were introduced to the delights of some of our traditional GVFB bar games. Almost inevitably the night was concluded with an exhibition of “bar diving” It should be noted for the record that our guests proved extraordinarily accomplished at this activity.

Apparently none the worse for wear, they departed the village early on Sunday morning heading south to the next cross at Hardingtstone.
