Visit to Fire Arms Unit Training Centre

Posted on November 20th, 2008 01:11 by Harker, JME

firearms2008On the 14th November a group of 14 firemen visited the Northamptonshire Fire Arms Unit Training Centre.

After a video of what the unit Fire Arm Unit has been involved in over the years, we were given a tour of the facility and the equipment used. One group were sampled the training given to help officers make life and death decisions as to whether to shoot or not while the other group were shown a vehicle containing the equipment used by the unit to gain entry to buildings.

We were then shown the weapons used by the unit and a sample of some of the weapons seized or handed in as part of amnesties.

A demonstration of a Tazer being fired at a target was then given.

The GVFB would like to thank the officers for giving up their time to show us around the facility.
