GVFB and the Community

GVFB have regular community renovation, restoration and maintenance projects on-the-go. Street cleaning for example takes place last Sunday of the month, we are asked to Newton Field Centre annually to cut back the vegetation and we complimented the regular Geddington churchyard clear up earlier this year. We’re happy to get stuck in if we can help.

For some time restoration of the pond in the meadow had been mooted so in November things started to happen. Instructions from the Wildlife Trust were acquired; discussion and permission from the Parish Council took place; a day was decided upon and with added help from Boughton House we set to it with our usual enthusiasm. The pond has now been cleared to reveal an expanse of water, fed from a natural water course; a sight you may recognise if you have lived in the village for some time.

Following this a site meeting took place involving interested parties that gave clear future direction of how we progress. We look forward to working with the Parish Council, the Wildlife Trust and the village in completing the work. Whilst we have received a lot of very positive feedback about the project we do accept not everyone felt the same. GVFB members give up their time freely to get involved in these things only for good motives and reasons. We look forward to contributing time and energy to this and other projects in the future.
