Senior Citizens Dinner 2022

Last Saturday we entertained 72 of the village’s Senior Citizens with a Scottish-themed dinner. We were delighted to have the village’s own piper, Nick Tysoe, perform for us alongside our own GVFB choir, with our renditions of Flower of Scotland, Auld Lang Syne, and I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) by the Proclaimers!

Thanks must go to Ali and his team in the kitchen for another great dinner, plus our entertainers Ruby and Steph & Tom.

School clean-up

The Volunteer Fire-bobbies have been doing their thing again! Following the “Great Storm Ciara” and the follow up from “Storm Dennis” the village school was left with quite a bit of debris to clear from fallen branches etc. The clean-up took place on Saturday morning.

James McLean (Community Officer for the GVFB) commented;

Despite a bit of equipment failure, the playground was successfully cleared.

“A great effort from those who answered the call for assistance from the school saw the task completed in double quick time. Despite a bit of equipment failure of pressure washers halfway through, the playground was successfully cleared.

There are a few follow up tasks, which require a bit more specialist equipment. We have promised to return and tackle these extra jobs in a few weeks.

Not included in the photo were the new C.O Colin and ex Adjutant Graeme. Thanks to everyone for their time, it is very much appreciated by the school”

Well done to James for organising the works!
