Senior Citizens Dinner 2022

Last Saturday we entertained 72 of the village’s Senior Citizens with a Scottish-themed dinner. We were delighted to have the village’s own piper, Nick Tysoe, perform for us alongside our own GVFB choir, with our renditions of Flower of Scotland, Auld Lang Syne, and I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) by the Proclaimers!

Thanks must go to Ali and his team in the kitchen for another great dinner, plus our entertainers Ruby and Steph & Tom.

2012 Burnt Offerings

Congratulations to all the entrants to the 2012 GVFB “bake-off” for the excellent and tasty efforts. The three winning Pie-keteers were:

  1. Section Leader Byers with Fish Surprise
  2. Brigade Major Streatfield with Traditional Steak and Kidney (his first ever)
  3. Fireman Downhill with Traditional Cornish Pasties

Thanks to all the entrants and better luck next year.

Next year Games night will run from Thursday 3rd January 2012 to Thursday 31st January 2013, the next great GVFB “bake-off”.  Entrants are required to provide a baked pasta dish sufficient for four.  (For those in doubt, the key word is Italian).
